Neural Circuits In Zebrafish: Form, Function And Plasticity
This project focuses on the development of VSV, a virus, as a transsynaptic tracer. The circuitry of the nervous system regulates all aspects of our behavior. However, existing methods that map connected neurons are low throughput and/or difficult and not accessible to all neuroscientists. Viral tracers have the potential to allow higher throughput mapping across model and non-model organisms by a wide range of laboratories. We are working to create such tracers. Our goals are to create viral tracers that are easy to apply, can target specific cell types, and lack the toxicity typically associated with these viruses.
