Dr. Simons' program of research focuses on psychological assessment and development of treatment interventions to improve the lives of youth with chronic pain. She has extensive clinical experience and a publication record in therapeutic program development and evaluation, coping with pain, anxiety/fear, and assessment scale development with pediatric populations. In addition to a focus on pain-related fear, she has developed a line of research focused on understanding the neural substrates of psychological processing in the context of the chronic pain experience using neuroimaging.
